Personal Statement

An experienced ITIL and Prince 2 certified IT professional with over 18 years’ experience in the delivery and support of multi million pound business and IT solutions across a broad range of functions and technologies.  Experienced in the management of vendors, stakeholders and development of strategies, processes, service and project delivery. Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills combining to establish a reputation for forming productive business relationships with board members, senior users and external suppliers. Committed, conscientious and innovative with effective leadership and management skills to drive excellence throughout an IT function. Pragmatic in approach, thereby facilitating the ability to simplify key decision making in high pressured environments.

Has the ability to lead all aspects of Project Management delivery from initial requirements (PID), through gate reviews to post project reviews (closure reports). Good team player able to own and maintain relationships at all levels including project sponsor(s), stake holders and technical leads as required. To own a project through its life cycle ensuring Time, Quality and Budget requirements are met while proactively identify and communicate risks and issues relevant to the project board and PMO.

In my current engagement at Shawbrook Bank I am managing an infrastructure program of work as part of a wider transition program, to set the bank up for continued growth and expansion within the challenger bank sector.

Key Achievements

Project Manager at EBRD accountable for a £2.3M project in a programme of works, centered around the implementation of a new LAN infrastructure designed from the ground up to improve the stability of the HQ LAN and also the manageability of the network. This also involved the installation of a new network core infrastructure at the co-location disaster recovery data centre.  The project involved managing third parties to deliver the data centre cabling and fit out, procurement and delivery of a COLT high capacity service, core WAN network implementation (Cisco Nexus 5000’s, 7000’s) and the delivery of a new IP schema to the HQ LAN campus.

Matrix managed all the IT teams for the annual electrical power down performed by the building engineering teams. This involved the power down of all servers’ physical and virtual, storage devices (NetApp) and the core network including all 12 of the buildings IT comms rooms over ten floors.

Delivered a £130,000 project to install a new zero touch turnstile system for the Colchester United Football Club. This involved managing third party suppliers to deliver against a full list of requirements, including the installation of new turnstiles, the installation of the zero touch hardware and software (VMpro), the migration onto a new ticketing system (ENTA).

Headed up a small team of technical engineers for DTZ on a pan European project to deliver 7 new offices catering for over 400 staff. This involved the creation of country specific workstation/laptop software image creation, the installation of a new server infrastructure at each site, a new backup solution for each site, juniper firewall installations and Cisco 2650 network switches.

  • Project managed the implementation of Shawbrooks new corporate intranet.
  • Project managing the deployment of Office 365 across the banking user base
  • Project managing the new Cisco Meraki Wireless project for corporate and guest access. This included ISE synchronization.
  • Project managing the Azure deployment which initially involved the migration of the corporate websites to be hosted within it.
  • Project managing the roll out of Skype for Business

  • Project managing the audit remediation program of work to bring the banks systems and processes in line with regulations set out by the financial authorities in the UK and the banks own internal regulations.

Jan 10 – July 11:            Infrastructure Technical Manager (MG2), Southeastern Railway, London HQ

  • Reported directly to the finance director of Southeastern Railway
  • Project Management of multiple projects from their inception through to post implementation hand over, allowing me to take a holistic view of the IT infrastructure while at all times considering the effect any changes will have on both the BAU support teams and more importantly the end user.
  • Responsible for the delivery of patching solutions for Windows environment, and ensuring detailed processes are documented and handed over to operational teams.

August 00 – July 09:       Global Information Services Infrastructure Systems Analyst, London HQ

  • Managed the deployment strategy and implementation of EVO (Exchange 2007 / Windows Vista / Office 2007) to the UK business
  • Redesigned the Active Directory to support Microsoft Best Practice and to provide a delegated management model
  • responsible for ensuring the global IT infrastructure is functioning, while recommending and implementing new technologies to help maintain an excellent level of service to our clients and expand with the rapid growth of the business
